Hannah Greene is an Island Fellow from the Island Institute, a nonprofit working to sustain Maine’s island and coastal communities. She started her position at Downeast Institute (DEI) in the fall of 2020 and will be living in Beals and working at DEI for the next two years. Hannah has been working with DEI’s Education Department to support and enhance supplemental marine science education programming in local schools. She is also assisting with various research and community development projects occurring in DEI’s hatchery, labs, and in field. For example, she helps coordinate school involvement in the Clam Recruitment Monitoring Network. As part of her fellowship, she is also hoping to become involved with local community organizations as a volunteer.
Hannah graduated from Wheaton College (MA) in 2020 with a B.A. in Environmental Science and minors in Public Policy and Public Health studies. Having grown up in Midcoast Maine, she is grateful for the opportunity to live and work in a different part of the state.
