Quahogs, Mercenaria mercenaria, are an increasing important hard shell clam in Maine. DEI has conducted research on producing quahogs in the hatchery, farming methods, recruitment levels, and comparing the effects of low pH (ocean acidification) on quahogs to the effects of predation.
