On May 16, 2022, The Bangor Daily News featured a story about Downeast Institute (DEI) being awarded a 2-year National Marine Fisheries Service Saltonstall Kennedy grant to study clam reproduction. DEI researchers Dr. Brian Beal and Sara Randall will work with town officials and clammers in three geographically distinct Maine communities (Brunswick, Bremen, and Jonesport) to determine how many eggs different sized clams produce. The study is designed to see if there are any regional or tidal height differences in clam egg production.

The story was authored by reporter Ethan Gunter and can be found here.
