Citizen Science
Are you interested in working with DEI?
There are a variety of ways for you to become involved with DEI’s research as a citizen scientist. Read the descriptions below and indicate your interest by signing up. A member of the DEI staff will contact you when opportunities arise.
RESEARCH in the INTERTIDAL
With Shellfish Committees
If your local Shellfish Committee is working with DEI, chances are they will need some volunteers at least twice a year to deploy or retrieve experiments from the intertidal.
RESEARCH in the INTERTIDAL
Independent Field Trials
Most of our intertidal shellfish research is conducted in partnership with communities and their shellfish committees. There are times, however, when we look for suitable areas to deploy independent experiments, and seek out landowners with shore frontage who would be excited to watch our experiments unfold and learn along with us.
RESEARCH in the SUBTIDAL
On Your Lease
DEI works to develop new candidate species and technology for shellfish aquaculture. We welcome current leaseholders who are willing to partner with us and provide space for our activities.
