DEI raises lobsters for research and educational purposes.

DEI is located in the heart of the Zone A lobster fishery and is part of an intact fishing community. Qualitative and quantitative research on lobsters and this vital Maine fishery can be conducted at DEI in the field or in controlled laboratory settings, and our hatchery technicians are experienced in producing juvenile lobsters.

Teachers who which to obtain juvenile lobsters for educational purposes should contact us in advance as availability is limited.
