Coastal Science Academy

DEI’s Coastal Science Academy helps educators incorporate authentic scientific inquiry and methods into their K-12 science curriculum and increase confidence in teaching STEM subjects. The Academy begins with an intensive, retreat-style workshop followed by project assistance throughout the school year. Teachers learn and apply DEI’s “Let’s Find Out” approach to promote student engagement in science, and encourage critical thinking and environmental stewardship.
The Coastal Science Academy is open to all pre-K-12th grade educators and is limited to 20 participants. Participants are required to attend the 4-day retreat-style workshop and participate in a school research project for the following school year. Continuing education “contact hour” credits are awarded.
