Annual Shellfish Field Days
Join Us for the Tenth Annual Shellfish Field Day along with a celebration of the DEI’s recent expansion and ribbon cutting ceremony.

Every year, DEI opens it’s doors to the entire community holds a community festival called Shellfish Field Days. In 2018, DEI is also excited to unveil our $6.6 million facility expansion on Great Wass Island in Beals.

Schedule for the 10thAnnual Field Day
11:00am: Shellfish Field Day begins.
Food available for purchase all day.
11:30am: Ribbon Cutting for the New Facility
Ceremony with remarks by special guests.
12:30pm: Tours of the new facility
After the ribbon cutting ceremony, make time to explore our new facilities.
2:00pm: Celebrity Clam Shucking Showdown
Professional clam shucker Marie West defends her title against DEI founder Dr. Brian Beal and other notable guests (TBA).
2:30pm: Annual Clam Flying Contest
Fly a clam to win prizes! Contests held for the following age classes:
10 years old and younger
11 years old – 15 years old
16 years old -100 years old
3:00pm: The end of the 10th Annual Shellfish Field Day
