10th Annual Shellfish Field Day & Ribbon Cutting Celebration

Saturday, August 11, 11:00am to 3:00pm

DEI is excited to unveil our $6.6 million facility expansion on Great Wass Island in Beals. Join our annual Shellfish Field Day and celebrate with us!


11:00am: Shellfish Field Day begins. Food available for purchase all day.

11:30am: Ribbon Cutting Ceremony with remarks by special guests.

12:30pm: Tours of the new facility. After the ribbon cutting ceremony, make time to explore our new facilities.

2:00pm: Celebrity Clam Shucking Showdown. Professional clam shucker Marie West defends her title against  DEI founder Dr. Brian Beal and other notable guests (TBA).

2:30pm: Annual Clam Flying Contest. Prizes awarded in each age class.

              10 years old and younger

              11 years old - 15 years old

              16 years old -100 years old

3:00pm: End of the 10th Annual Shellfish Field Days.
